1914

How it started
The business was founded back 1914 by John Aspinwall. It was located just off Front Street in Norfolk, along the Elizabeth River, in what is now known as the Roebuck apartments.
1915

First motorized vehicle
The company acquired its first motorized vehicle, marking a significant turning point in its journey. From that moment on, everything changed—it paved the way for a whole new era of possibilities.
1928

agent for Allied Van Lines
Security Storage and Van Co. became an agent for Allied Van Lines, one of the largest moving companies in the nation. This allowed the company to expand and grow as a business.
1962

THE ASH WEDNESDAY STORM
The company stayed in business along Front Street for nearly 45 years, until 1962, when a bad flood caused by the Ash Wednesday Storms forced the company to find a new location.
1963

more than 150,000 moves
Security Storage and Van Co. relocated to Sellger Drive in Norfolk, VA and operated from this facility for nearly 57 years.
2020

The business´ biggest move
Relocation to Progress Road in the Norfolk Industrial Park. This was a remarkable improvement, not only in size at 125,000 square feet, but looking back over the years, it’s been an incredible journey.

In addition, we do background checks on all of our employees, perform random drug screens and also hold our crew members accountable for their own claims. Lastly, being part of the Allied family and having of a vast network of agents nation-wide gives us the ability to provide competitive pricing, guaranteed quality and service that you can expect when hiring professional moving services.”
