Frequently asked questions

Whether you’re planning a local move, need packing services, or have concerns about the logistics, our FAQ section provides the information you need. If you have any other questions, don’t hesitate to reach out to our team — we’re here to help!

A good rule of thumb when planning your next move is to give yourself at least 4-6 weeks.
This will allow you time to declutter, organize and research moving companies in your area.

Make sure you research companies by reading online reviews, checking the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administrations website for credentials and also getting at least 3 estimates to make sure the company you choose is right for you.

Most companies operate 7 days a week. The cost of moving over the weekend tends to be more expensive than moving during the week, therefore it’s important to consider this when choosing a moving date.

You can pack everything yourself, but it is often timely and can take up a lot of space in your home. Consider packing certain rooms, or items you feel comfortable packing yourself, and leave the more fragile items to the packing crews. If you don’t want to pack, or just don’t have the time, then hiring a professional moving company will take all of that stress away and leave it in the hands of experienced crews who do this for a living.

Choosing to move during the off-season (October through May), is a great way to save money on your next move. Summer is a popular time for families to move, since kids are out of school. Summer is the most popular time for families to move because kids are off from school. Summer is also the most demanding time for moving companies. By choosing to move during the non-peak season, you could have lower costs on your relocation.

Another great way to save money is to pack your own belongings. Hiring a company to perform these services can be costly, which is why packing your own belongings into boxes can save you time and money in the long run.

Lastly, you can save money by decluttering your household by either donating items, or having a garage sale. Having a garage sale will help you put more money in your pocket and reduce the amount of items for your upcoming move.

Costs can vary based on the distance of your move, size of your move, or any additional services that are requested, like packing, third-party services and shuttles. The best thing you can do as a customer is to call the moving company and have them give you an estimate based on a virtual survey or an in-home survey. It’s very important that someone conducts a survey on your home, so there are no surprises on the total cost of your move once it’s been completed.

There should be no hidden costs with your move. A surveyor will go over the estimate with you either on the phone or in person and outline all the charges on that estimate. In certain cases, the price could change (ex. You anticipated packing yourself, but didn’t have the time and now need those services), but more often than not, the total price should be very close to your estimated price.

Prior to the moving process, you should pack a small box with items such as toiletries, medications, jewelry and important documents that you readily need. Having these items with you will help prevent any immediate items being packed during your move.

Accidents can happen, which is why we provide valuation coverage options during the moving process. Adding valuation to your move ensures that your items are insured if an accident were to happen. If you do notice any damages to your items, please notify our claims department and they will be more than happy to walk you through the claim process.

The moving process can be quite stressful on your pets, which is why we always ask that you keep your pets separated in a room or a safe space away from the crews as they work in your home. Keeping your pets in a safe place ensures that the crews are able to perform their job and your pets are happy.
